It seems that everytime you hear about SOX you inevitably hear about the immense costs associated with compliance. With everyone focused on the high price tag, it's logical to deduce that everyone hates SOX, however a recent BusinessWeek article touts that's not so. An evergrowing number of investers are happy with the changes that have taken place due to SOX.

According to the article, among the many benefits investors say the biggest is that, "(SOX) and related reforms have produced much more reliable corporate financial statements, which investors rely on when deciding whether to buy or sell shares.  For them, (SOX) has been a godsend."

The updated disclosure requirements mean that the numbers companies are publishing have fewer adjustments and unusual charges and write-offs.  In addition, reports now include more information that wasn't available prior to the recent accounting scandals.  All of this means investors can have more confidence in their companies and investments.
