Chad Bumbaugh, CPA, Manager with Stambaugh Ness, will tell you he hails from the Waynesboro area, but when asked to get specific, he admits - tongue in cheek - to growing up "in the booming metropolis of Mont Alto." Chad and his buddies from "back home" were all big Star Wars fans, he notes, so collecting Star Wars memorabilia was "something a few of us got into - plus looking for stuff was a good excuse to travel around the state to get out of Mont Alto." He says he still buys an occasional odd piece to add to his Star Wars collection.
Chad also collects video games to play when he has some spare time, and he "loves to watch football and baseball on TV." He also plays in a pickup volleyball game now and then, but adds, "fantasy football and baseball are more my speed now - the real things passed me by." That also explains Chad's enjoyment of the fall season. "The leaves changing means that football is ramping up, and the World Series is just around the corner."
Chad also serves on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of York County.
Since joining Stambaugh Ness five years ago, Chad has performed and supervised audits for a variety of businesses, and he has worked with the firm's Audit and Accounting Committee that is responsible for keeping SN up-to-date with professional standards and regulations, in addition to other duties.
At this particular time of year, Chad says his special achievement is "surviving March 15th again," when corporate taxes are due. This type of challenge may be what he has in mind when he refers to his ambition to be like "Maverick," the jet fighter pilot in the movie Top Gun. "I really haven't been able to think of any ways that this is different from being an accountant," he deadpans.
Chad and his wife, Karen, live north of York and anticipate moving into their new house near Mt. Wolf in late summer with their two cats, Kaylie and Chloe.
