Lisa Merchant tends to her clients

Lisa Merchant has been known to say that she is "just a bookkeeper who got too much education."  She says she is happiest doing the detail work, the putting-everything-together and getting-it-right type of work.  But there is more to the story, which becomes clear when Lisa talks about the clients she enjoys helping.  What Lisa really likes is taking care of people – tending to her clients.  This caring attitude must have had something to do with why she has worked with nursing home businesses since right out of college.

Lisa has been a CPA for twenty years and with DMLO for fifteen.  She works with clients in long-term care organizations and other types of not-for-profit organizations.  She specializes in the intricacies of Medicare and Medicaid record keeping and reporting, and it has been an important niche for her whole career.

Outside work, Lisa tends a farm and its animal population.  She and her husband, along with their children, all participate in raising sheep on their farm in Shelby County.  And a year ago, the whole family traveled to China to bring home their fourth child, a new daughter who is now two years old.
