DMLO welcomes senior tax advisor!

DMLO is pleased to welcome Jeff Calderon to the firm this week.  Jeff comes to DMLO from his firm in New York City with more than twenty years of experience in tax planning and consulting.  He will continue to work with his long-time clients as well as working closely with Larry Bailey and Bea Rosenberg in the estates and trusts practice.

Jeff Calderon moves with NYC moxie

"Somewhere to the south of New York City lies the friendly state of ...."  Well, Paul McCartney said "Tennessee" in the lyrics of his song, but clearly the Brit and most New Yorkers missed the real gem to the south.  All except for one particular New Yorker.  More than a year ago, Jeff Calderon, a tax advisor and half owner of a thriving CPA firm in NYC, determined to find a new home for both his family and his tax practice.  His research on quality of life issues led him to Louisville, Kentucky.  Then, Jeff spent some quality time in Louisville, sizing up the market and finding the right firm (DMLO) where he could make the best use of his skills in tax planning and consulting.  You might be thinking that the risk of moving away from a thriving practice and your life-long home would be more than you might personally choose.  But then, Jeff has the moxie to take such a risk.  And that NYC moxie will always be part of him.

Jeff has been in public accounting for more than twenty years.  He joined DMLO on Monday, July 16, almost a year since agreeing to join the firm.  Jeff is a graduate of Brooklyn College and his entire career has been focused in the tax area.  He works with high net worth individuals and small to medium sized businesses.  He prefers to work closely with his clients so he can advise them in each important decision, and also because he enjoys the relationships he develops with his clients.  Jeff finds great satisfaction in finalizing the returns as the culmination of a year of planning.  He also enjoys the opportunity to mentor and develop younger staff.  Jeff's favorite success stories, though, are the times when he has advised a client to grab an opportunity, albeit somewhat risky, and achieve a huge long-term benefit.

Outside work, Jeff loves to spend time with his family.  He is especially looking forward to the new benefit of more time with his kids.  He is an avid baseball and long-time Mets fan, and he has supported all the professional sports at one time or another in his native New York City.  He also likes to golf and plans to do so more often with some of the time he has gained in moving to Louisville.  Jeff and his wife have two children.
