As I prepared to write this article, I noticed a book on my bookshelf called Time Flies. It was written by Bill Cosby in 1987 and is a humorous look at aging. It will definitely make you laugh.

But what does this have to do with business? Well, time really does fly when we are running as fast as we can.

As a business ages, we should utilize our experiences to continually improve our team and our processes. But, all too often I see important issues ignored and owners and top management finding they are reactive rather than proactive.

Being proactive takes a discipline which does not come easy. It takes dedication, commitment and practice.

A strategic plan for the business will provide a road map for the future. Then you can begin to lay the groundwork for where you want to go and how you are going to get there. Working with one of Rea's business consultants can bring valuable and independent thinking to the process.

Time may still fly, but hopefully you will be the pilot.
