The Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry will hold a special roundtable, "Business Insurance Essentials," that will cover one of the leading costs and ongoing confusions for business: insurance. The event is open to all businesses including for-profit and not-for-profit on Thursday, November 15 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Holiday Inn Harrisburg-Hershey, Grantville.

Whether it's a board of directors affected by a lawsuit, CEO misconduct, or poor work by an independent contractor, companies need to maintain adequate insurance coverage to protect themselves, their employees and customers. More and more, legal and accounting firms, as well as other consultants, are making these recommendations.

For the first time, the Pennsylvania Chamber has invited leading experts to walk attendees through the steps companies need to follow to analyze the types of insurance and coverage levels they need:

• Minimum insurance requirements for all companies, and insurance you may want to add as your company grows
• Real life insurance scenarios and practical solutions, such as handling defective construction claims; coverage for holiday parties, company picnics, exhibiting at trade shows and other business events; and employee-committed theft or fraud.
• Insurance and Independent Contractors-coverage if the contractor is deemed to be an employee; understanding the risks of hiring independent contractors and when your company may be held liable.

The fee to attend is $35 for PA Chamber members, $50 for non-members, and includes a continental breakfast starting at 8 a.m. The program will run from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
