Pennsylvania's 2007-08 budget includes a new agricultural tax credit program, known as the Resource Enhancement and Protection Tax Credit (REAP), providing up to $10 million in tax credits for farmers using best management practices (BMPs).

According to the REAP Brochure/Fact Sheet, eligible applicants may be able to receive between 25% and 75% of project costs as state tax credits for up to $150,000 per agricultural operation.

The three ways to participate in the REAP program include:

  • The implementation of eligible BMPs to receive tax credits directly to reduce the individual state tax bill
  • The sale of tax credits to another Pennsylvania tax payer
  • Working with a sponsor that will help finance the BMPs. The farmer will be compensated for making improvements, and the sponsor will receive the tax credit.

Please refer to the brochure for a list of key features of the program.

If you have questions about the REAP program or need other tax-related information, you can contact Tax Specialist Crystal Martin at 717-757-6999 or 800-745-8233. You can also send her an email by using the form below.
