Countless books and articles have been written on the subject.  Studies have been conducted and results tabulated.  Creating a great workplace results in more than just happy employees – it creates long-term customer relationships and increased profits.  The Wall Street Journal recently highlighted 15 small companies from across the U.S. that were named the "Top Small Workplaces 2007".  Not surprisingly, several common themes were noted among the winners, all of which point to one common denominator – engaged employees.

In her article, "Rules of Engagement", Susan Shellenbarger points out that, "a growing body of research is finally proving what advocates of workplace quality have known for decades: that the human beings who execute the goals of business are more than just cogs in a wheel.  Truly engaging them can have an almost magical effect on the bottom line."

This research only confirms what McKonly & Asbury discovered long ago – serve your employees first, and they'll serve your clients with excellence.

The Top Small Workplaces of 2007 continuously look for new ways to engage employees and create a better work environment.  While the investment is significant, they have found that the returns far outweigh the expenses.  Engaged employees are happy, focused, loyal workers who serve internal and external clients well.  They are invested in the company and its customers which, in turn, creates loyal, engaged clients and consumers.

As McKonly & Asbury celebrates being voted a Best Place to Work in Pennsylvania for the fifth consecutive year, we thank all of our team members for their roles in creating an engaging place to work.  Our managers, staff, and committee members invest a great deal of time and energy in their fellow employees to help make our firm a truly great place to work.
