Tate & Tryon is pleased to announce that Deborah Kosnett, CPA has been promoted to Tax Principal within the firm's Nonprofit Tax department.

Previously serving as a Senior Tax Manager within the Firm, Ms Kosnett has more than 20 years of experience in the nonprofit tax industry, including 12 years of working with charities, associations, and exempt hospitals in the Washington, D.C. tax departments of KMPG and Ernst & Young.
Ms. Kosnett has dealt with a myriad of tax issues that concern exempt organizations, including unrelated business income tax, private inurement, lobbying activities, political action committees, taxable subsidiaries, corporate sponsorship joint ventures and fundraising. She is also well versed in federal and state exemption application procedures, and has assisted exempt organizations undergoing Internal Revenue Service examinations. Ms. Kosnett also has broad experience in the private foundation, corporate, and partnership tax areas. |
Deborah is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Greater Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants (GWSCPA), the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), and is licensed in the District of Columbia. For 4 years, Ms. Kosnett served as a member of the AICPA's Exempt Organization Technical Resource Panel. This panel is comprised of CPAs from around the country who are recognized for their expertise in the taxation of nonprofit organizations. Ms. Kosnett is also a frequent speaker at industry seminars, including the AICPA's annual Not-for-Profit Conference, the Foundation for Accounting Education's Exempt Organizations Conference, and the Greater Washington Society of CPA's NFPO Symposium.
