Two recent puppy mill busts have brought the horrors of large-scale breeding operations to light. Many pugs that come into MAPR's care throughout the year - such as Tia our most recent survivor - come from these horrible places. These pugs have usually lived in small cages, have fleas, worms or other numerous health issues with their eyes, skin, and reproductive systems. Their spines can be bent from lack of room and their muscles atrophied from disuse. Sadly, many have never been pet or set foot on grass. We will help these pugs in every way we can - from providing full-scale veterinary care to housing these pugs in one of our many special-needs, longer-term foster homes. We are proud of our commitment to "let no pug go unloved."
Scroll to the bottom to see photos of Tia taken into MAPR's care on November 11, 2007. She is currently still fighting for her life at the veterinary hospital, but we recently received news that she has a good chance of survival. We will provide updates as we receive them.
