We are Developing a
Relationship of Trust

By
Paul D. Brick, CFP®

Stambaugh Ness Financial Strategies

The other day, a prospective client called the office looking for a financial adviser. When asked how he heard of us, he explained that he had gotten our name from the yellow pages.

We proceeded to ask questions regarding the types of services he was looking for to see if we could be of assistance. He asked all of the right questions: "How long have you been in business? What are your professional designations? Do you charge a fee for an initial consultation?"

But he did not ask for - and we did not offer - the one single piece of information that means the most to every person looking for someone to help with their financial affairs: How does he know that he can trust us?

We try envisioning ourselves wandering through the telephone book, trying to figure out "who has my best interests in mind?"

Entrusting your finances to someone is a critical decision. We are sensitive to this and provide a variety of ways to build client relationships. Educational seminars give people a chance to get to know us before establishing a working relationship. Initial consultations allow us to meet and discuss goals so that a person can become comfortable with us. This e-newsletter provides information on an ongoing basis to both clients and prospects. But one of the best ways for a person to start the financial planning relationship with a feeling of trust is to be referred by a current client.

A referral is one of the highest compliments you can pay us. We strive to do our best when you refer a friend, family member or colleague. Thank you for your continued support.
