Ice Breakers are a great way to introduce meeting participants who might not know each other and to enhance participation among employees who already know each other. During LBMC Employment Partners' recent monthly service team meeting, employees participated in an ice breaker that focused on listening skills. At the beginning of the exercise employees were given paper grocery bags to place over their heads. The facilitator started a conversation with them about topics unrelated to the bags, engaged them in a series of "Simon Says" activities, and then asked that each person remove an item that they did not wear to bed the night before. At the start of the second round, one employee realized that it was the bag that should be removed and during the following rounds other employees realized this too because they definitely had not worn the bags to bed the night before. It took a couple of employees about ten rounds to figure out that the bags should be removed which resulted in an entertaining experience for everyone involved.
