TOP Soccer/Adaptive Program

One of our principals, Tony Orsborne, is involved with a Special Olympics/MSI sponsored soccer program for special needs and disabled children ages 6 to 21 years old and he is trying to get the word out to the community that there is a place in this program for all who are interested in playing regardless of their disability. 

There are children who come to the sessions with all types of disabilities ranging from mental retardation, autism, downs syndrome, muscular dystrophy, impaired vision and a host of others;

some are in walkers and some run really well, it is a mixed bag.  Last Sunday at the middle school program that he  was coaching,  he had about 15 athletes and twice as many teenaged volunteer buddies so plenty of room for new players.  He believes the elementary school group had about the same numbers.  He is hoping that they will be able to double the number of athletes by circulating this email and getting the word out.

·         The elementary school age group (grades 1 to 4) meets each Sunday at Julius West Middle School, 651 Great Falls Road, Rockville from 12:00 to 1:00.

·         The middle school age group (mainly grades 5 to 10 but 1th and 12^th also welcome) meet each Sunday at Julius West Middle School in Rockville from 1:00 to 2:30

·         The high school age group (grades 9 to 12) meets each Sunday at Wootton High School, 2100 Wootton Parkway, Rockville from 4:30 to 6:00.
