Welcome to the Spring 2009 edition of BDO Seidman's Alliance News. We hope that you survived this year's "busy season" and have had a chance to recoup and refresh as things start getting back to normal. As part of that, we encourage you to spend some time getting updated on the activities within the Alliance and checking out our feature stories.

In this issue, we have chosen to highlight two firms: HBLA, Certified Public Accountants, Inc. in Irvine, California and Xcentric, LLC in Alpharetta, Georgia. HBLA prides itself on employee retention and enjoys an active involvement in the Southern California business community. Xcentric has been providing technology driven results to CPA firms since 2002 by helping firms increase their flexibility and productivity and enhance security by outsourcing technology.

Be sure to also check out a particularly interesting success story that involves three CPA Alliance members that jointly proposed on (and won!) the audit for the County of Maui. And, if you're wondering what the buzz is about lately for sites like Twitter and Facebook, Roy Keely discusses in his article about how social web sites are fast becoming the marketing and recruiting tool of choice for CPA firms.

Alliance Teamwork in Action

Ah ... paradise!  Ah ... audit? Those are two concepts that generally do not occur in the same thought or even within throwing distance of each other. Then again, even paradise has to be held to standards, right? That's why, thanks to membership in the BDO Seidman Alliance, a California CPA firm was tapped from across the ocean to help ensure that, for one county in paradise, all the ducks, pineapples and coconuts were in a row. It started when two closely connected firms in Hawaii wanted to extend their practices into new territory. The Alliance made it happen.
