Proposed Changes in Lease Accounting will Impact all Companies

Operating lease accounting will be eliminated, according to a recent proposal issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB). Although the final standard will most likely not be issued until 2011, companies need to consider the impact of such a decision now, according to M. Scott Hursh, managing partner of our Architectural, Engineering and Construction (AEC) Group.

COMMUNITY SERVICE - Mission Trip Focuses on Galveston's Plight

 
Hurricane Ike made landfall on Galveston Island in the early morning of September 13, 2008 as a Category 2 hurricane with winds of 110 miles per hour. Stambaugh Ness Business Solutions' Senior Technical Consultant Ken Saxe participated last week in a mission trip to help continue cleaning up the destructive results of that storm.

Increased FDIC Insurance Limits Have Been Extended

 
Effective May 20, the temporary increase in the standard maximum deposit insurance amount (SMDIA) to $250,000 per depositor was extended by law through December 31, 2013. The Helping Families Save Their Homes Act provides that the SMDIA will return to $100,000 on January 1, 2014.
