Although this year is only half over, we've already had one new tax law (a really big one), and more might be on the way (maybe not so big). Despite confusion created by never-ending legislative changes, the current federal income tax environment is still quite favorable. Now is the time to take advantage of the tax breaks that Congress has provided before they disappear. Drive Away in a New Car with Help from Uncle Sam  
Are you driving a clunker? You may love your vehicle, but if it gets less than 19 miles to the gallon, the federal government would like to see it taken off the road. But don't be alarmed, you could wind up with a new vehicle and save as much as $4,500 in government rebates in addition to dealer and manufacturer incentives. Pay the IRS Before Other Creditors  
One of the harshest provisions in the tax law causes a person found responsible for unpaid employment taxes to be held personally liable for 100 percent of the amount due. Liability can only be avoided if the person can show that the failure to deposit the taxes was due to "reasonable cause" and not "willful neglect."
