Alternative Minimum Tax 'Fix' Might be Too Little, Too Late

President Bush has signed into law some much-needed tax relief involving the alternative minimum tax (AMT). The new tax legislation increases the exemption amounts for tax filers across-the-board and will save an estimated 23 million people from paying AMT for the 2007 tax year.

PAYROLL PLACE - Form I-9 Now in Use

 
All US employers should now be using the revised Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification to verify employment eligibility of newly-hired workers. Stambaugh Ness Payroll Specialist Crystal Martin notes the revised form has a revision date of June 5, 2007 printed on the lower right corner of the form. Reminder - the standard mileage rate increased to 50 ½ cents per mile on Jan. 1, 2008.
