Not-for-Profit Governance
As we begin the New Year, I thought it would be appropriate to review some of the guidelines that Board Members need to keep in mind. I am addressing this matter, not because I observe any particular disregard for these guidelines but rather from the standpoint that the challenge for those responsible for not-for-profit governance continues to mount. We continue to see some trickle down from the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, particularly with the auditing requirements that many organizations will be facing for the first time. We have also heard from the Internal Revenue Service with the changes made to Form 990 for 2008 and their commitment to continued scrutiny of not-for-profits. Click on Full Article to read more.
