Super Lawyer: Ted Adler

For the fourth time, Ted Adler has been named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer by Philadelphia Magazine and Pennsylvania Super Lawyer Magazine.  Only 5% of the lawyers in Pennsylvania are selected for this honor. Ted is one of only three (3) lawyers outside of the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh metropolitan areas to receive this recognition in the areas of construction and surety law.

Estate Planning Considerations for Business Owners

Passing on the business from one generation to the next is often a fundamental concern for the owner of a business due to the substantial investment one makes in their business.   By properly positioning the owner's assets and income, any estate tax due upon the owner's death can be minimized and the amount of assets passing to the heirs can be maximized.  Therefore, some degree of estate planning is appropriate to ensure the orderly transfer of the business and the owner's other assets.  Certain basic estate and gift tax factors will need to be considered in formulating an estate plan that will provide the business owner with the maximum tax advantage.

Recent Initiatives to Protect Homeowners Facing Foreclosure

"Project Lifeline" -- Lenders Unveil Plan to Stave Off Foreclosures

 

On February 12, 2008, the Treasury Department and an alliance of banks announced a new plan to allow some homeowners to suspend foreclosure actions for 30 days.

The aim is to give seriously delinquent borrowers -- meaning those who are more than 90 days behind on payments -- more time to work out repayment plans, loan modifications or refinancing deals with lenders.
