IRS Releases Draft Instructions for 2008 Form 990

Ladies and gentlemen: sharpen your pencils; flex your typing digits. On April 7th, IRS released the new draft Form 990 instructions which are available for comment only through June 1.

IRS Releases Final Regulations on Intermediate Sanctions

Last month the IRS issued final regulations in connection with the "intermediate sanctions" provisions of the Internal Revenue Code which clarify the factors to be considered in determining whether a 501(c)(3) organization has jeopardized its tax-exempt status by engaging in one or more excess benefit transitions.
