Education Department Releases School District Tax-cut Estimates

The Pennsylvania Department of Education on May 1 informed the state's 501 school districts of the amounts each will receive from state gaming revenues to fund property tax relief for the coming fiscal year. The Full Article notes the total amount being distributed is $613 million.

First Class Stamp Price Increases to 42¢ on Monday, May 12

 
It will cost a penny more - or 42¢ - to mail a first-class letter on Monday, May 12. But a Forever Stamp will still get your letter delivered for 41¢ ... as long as you don't run out of Forever Stamps.

And you can avoid lines at the local post office by ordering online at the U.S. Postal Service website as detailed in the Full Article.

Relief for Stimulus Payments Withdrawn from IRAs and Tax-Favored Accounts

Economic stimulus payments directly deposited into IRAs and other tax-favored accounts may be withdrawn tax-free and penalty-free, the Internal Revenue Service has announced. According to the Full Article, this relief is designed to help taxpayers who may have been unaware that by choosing direct deposit for their entire regular tax refund, they were also choosing to have their stimulus payment directly deposited as well.
