Parent McLaughlin & Nangle Announcements
Comments on Board Governance by the Commissioner
Over the past months, there have been many articles written on board governance. We at Parent McLaughlin and Nangle feel it is very important to the success of tax-exempt organizations. We have written so many articles on this topic that we may have actually avoided it in recent months in an effort to steer clear of preaching the same message over and over again. However, I want to re-visit this topic and relay to you comments made by Steven Miller, Commissioner, Tax Exempt and Government Entities, Internal Revenue Service. These comments were made to the Georgetown Seminar Exempt Organizations Panel on Nonprofit Governance on April 23rd and 24th.His remarks hit at the heart and soul of what will make a tax exempt entity succeed.
