OSI Settlement Report

Other similar incidents or OSIs can be invaluable, paying off several times more than the investment cost for securing them. LSSLC, LLC has developed a process for finding hard to get OSIs in automotive and other product liability cases. We currently have developed databases for various products.  


Presentation of OSIs at trial or mediation has helped settle the following cases:

1998 Ford Crown Victoria, sudden acceleration, electromagnetic defect in the vehicle's cruise control system (Next Generation Speed Control System) caused vehicle to accelerate without driver input. Settled at mediation. Numerous OSIs found.

Rollover/ Roof Crush, 2002 Ford Expedition, Trial ended in hung jury, settlement before new trial, UN93 (1997-2002) and U222 (2003-2007) Ford Expedition OSIs found. Undisclosed amount.

When away from home on business,
 a taxpayer can deduct 50 percent of business-related meals and all incidental expenses, such as tips. But how long must you stay away to qualify for deductions? According to the IRS, you must be gone for "a period substantially longer than an ordinary day's work and you need to get sleep or rest to meet the demands of your work while away." However, one Tax Court case stretched the limits of this "sleep or rest" rule. Here are the details.

Taxpayers taking IRA distributions can roll the money over tax free into another IRA — but the transaction must be completed within 60 days to avoid a tax bill. However, there is some relief for those who can't complete the rollover on time due to extenuating circumstances.
