Massachusetts Sales Tax Holiday to Occur August 16th and 17th!

On July 23, 2008, the Massachusetts Legislature has enacted and put before the governor for signature legislation establishing a sales tax holiday for August 16 and 17, 2008.  As in the past (for four years running now), during these sales tax holidays, generally nonbusiness retail sales of tangible personal property in Massachusetts costing $2,500 or less are exempt from sales and use taxes, subject to certain exclusions.  PMN will be issuing a full article on the specific rules and changes (as compared to last year's bill) which will appear in our next newsletter to be released on August 13th, in time for the Massachusetts sales tax holiday weekend on the 16th and 17th.
