IRS Imposes New Reporting Requirements on Not-for-Profits

The IRS is paying more attention to not-for-profits following reports of some organizations paying excessive compensation to certain directors, participating in tax shelter schemes and engaging in other improper transactions. As a result, the tax agency has increased the reporting requirements for IRS Form 990, which must be made available to anyone from the general public upon request. Tax Manager Eric Schmiedel, CPA, CSEP takes a look at the many changes and how they affect organizations.
