Business Valuations
How much is your business worth?
That’s a very complex question you may need to answer for a variety of reasons, including the sale of the business, shareholder buyouts, ESOPs, divorce, stock bonus plans, estate planning and more. Answering a question of that magnitude requires looking well beyond your assets, liabilities and projected financial figures. To determine a number that reflects its true value, you need to take into consideration issues such as your competitive position, the uniqueness and future viability of your products or services, your industry as a whole and the strength of your management team.
At DMLO, we have a team of professionals with a wealth of experience in providing business valuations. They bring to your project strong backgrounds in valuation theory and applications, real estate, accounting and auditing, taxation, economics, litigation support and much more. DMLO also brings a wide range of resources to bear on your project as a member of the AICPA Private Companies Practice Section, the AICPA Business Valuation and Forensic & Litigation Services Section, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, the American Society of Appraisers (Business Valuation section affiliate member), the Institute of Business Appraisers, the Louisville Bar Association Family Law Section, the LBA Litigation Section, the LBA Probate & Estate Section and other widely respected industry associations.
Cost Segregation Studies
Your company’s real estate holdings make up a huge capital investment. DMLO’s engineering-based cost segregation studies are designed to maximize your real property’s financial return by generating significant cash flow savings. Our cost segregation professionals generate cash tax savings by carving out shorter-lived assets (qualifying for 5-, 7- or 15-year write-off periods) that normally remain embedded in a building’s construction or acquisition costs instead of working for you.
You and DMLO will “mine out” these buried tax savings from:
- New buildings presently under construction;
- Existing buildings undergoing renovation, remodeling, restoration or expansion;
- Purchases of existing properties;
- Office/facility leasehold improvements and “fit outs”;
- Post-1986 real estate construction, building acquisitions, or improvements where no cost segregation study was performed.
Forensic / Fraud Services
If you have a concern that certain financial systems in your business may be vulnerable or may even have been compromised, then you have a need that can be resolved with the help of DMLO’s forensic and fraud services. We use our outside expert perspective to evaluate your systems and trace any areas of concern to the most likely source. It may even prove that your concerns are groundless.
Or, you may have been a victim of confirmed fraud or theft. DMLO has the resources and expertise to get to the bottom of the situation. We will measure the precise amount of damage, ascertain the extent of your financial loss, determine what illicit accounting practices were involved and provide support for any court action you may choose to take.
Litigation Support Services
When money is at the heart of the matter, you need expert evidence, testimony and strategy planning. And that’s just what DMLO is prepared to do for you.
