A majority of Stambaugh Ness employees benefited from training grants this past year, and we’d like to help YOUR company obtain grants, too. However, if you’re interested, you might want to act quickly since applications must be submitted by early July.

If your company is based in Pennsylvania or has a significant presence in this state, it may qualify for a Guaranteed Free Training (GFT) grant. A wide range of businesses is included with only these types of businesses deemed ineligible: point-of-sale retail businesses, employment agencies, government, education, training vendors and nonprofit entities. Individuals are also ineligible. Some nonprofit healthcare companies may qualify as exceptions.

The GFT program, now in its seventh year, is offered through the Workforce and Economic Development Network of Pennsylvania (WEDnetPA).  The program is funded by the Department of Community and Economic Development.  WEDnetPA is “committed to making Pennsylvania companies more competitive by updating and improving the skills of their employees to meet specific company needs,” according to its website.

Training topics are varied and range from basic to high-tech in nature. Qualifications are based on the training program for which the company is applying – either Basic Skills or Information Technology.

Qualified companies can select among many training providers conveniently located across Pennsylvania including both instructor-led and online training.  Much of the training that Stambaugh Ness qualified and received funding for was for internal training courses led by internal instructors.
